TRUE “Stories from the Attic”
Starts at 2:00 PM
Join history hunter and NMHS board Trustee, Greg Van Antwerp, July 26 at 2 PM at the
New Milford Historical Society. Urban archeologist, Greg, returns with a set of stories to
not only share, but perform.
Greg also hosts “Stories from the Attic”, a podcast dedicated to covering forgotten
American history, rare documents, and artifacts hidden in attics and basements. Rather
than reselling items, he focuses on digging into the background of his discoveries and
sharing the stories of unsung heroes.
Greg has been providing his "Stories from the Attic" for over ten years.
As an avid historian and preservationist, Greg hopes to teach people how to seek out
these unique bits of hidden history so they may join him on his journey to preserve
history in its physical form for generations to come.

Seeking Sewing Machine Loans...
Started at 1:00 PM
We are excited to share that the New Milford Historical Society and Museum, in conjunction with the Town of New Milford’s 250th Committee’s “Airing of the Quilts”, will be opening a new exhibit on April 28, 2026. As part of this project, we are seeking sewing machines on temporary loan from members of the public.
The exhibition explores home sewing, local history, family history, and personal attachments to the family sewing machine. We are especially interested in pre 1970 models along with any stories or histories connected to them.
All loan items will be handled with professional museum care, displayed in a secure environment, and fully insured for the durat…
