Seeking Sewing Machine Loans

Seeking Sewing Machine Loans
Starts at 1:00 PM

We are excited to share that the New Milford Historical Society and Museum, in conjunction with the Town of New Milford’s 250th Committee’s “Airing of the Quilts”, will be opening a new exhibit on April 28, 2026. As part of this project, we are seeking sewing machines on temporary loan from members of the public.

The exhibition explores home sewing, local history, family history, and personal attachments to the family sewing machine. We are especially interested in pre 1970 models along with any stories or histories connected to them.

All loan items will be handled with professional museum care, displayed in a secure environment, and fully insured for the duration of the loan. Loan agreements will outline all details, and objects will be available for pickup at the closing of the exhibition.

If you own a sewing machine you would consider lending - or would like to learn more about the process please contact us at nmhistorical@gmail.com or call (860) 354-3069 by April 13. Photos and basic information are helpful but not required for an initial inquiry.

We would be honored to include machines from our community and to share the stories behind them.

Thank you for helping to bring this exhibition to life
