History of the Main Entrance The Society's main door with leaded transom was originally located at the old U.S. Hotel on Main & Bank Street, New Milford. (Picture taken in 1927.) The door and transom was exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1927 as an example of colonial worksmanship.
The door was later purchased by the Society as the main entrance to the Museum Gallery, where it still stands today.
